New Delhi: Salima Tete-led India defeated China 1-0 in the final to win the Women’s Asian Champions Trophy 2024 title at the Rajgir Hockey Stadium in Rajgir, Bihar on Wednesday, November 20. India enjoyed a sensational campaign in the tournament as they went on to clinch the elusive title while remaining unbeaten throughout the competition.

Deepika scored the only goal in the final which proved to be the difference between the two sides and helped the defending champions complete a successful title defence at home. Deepika continued her prolific goal-scoring run in the final as she broke the deadlock for India in the third quarter with a composed finish.

Deepika was preparing for a drag flick during a penalty corner for India in the third quarter. However, she ended up scoring with a fine reverse hit after Sushila failed to trap the ball well and it fell to Deepika inside the circle. It was Deepika’s 11th goal of the tournament and arguably the most important one as it sealed the victory for India in the all-important final.
