New Delhi: Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s eldest son follows in his father’s footsteps, signing his first professional contract with AC Milan, his father’s former club. The 17-year-old winger followed his father around in his journeyman career, being previously enrolled at the PSG and Manchester United academy while his father was playing for those clubs.
Maximillian played for Milan’s U-18 side last season in the Campionato Under 18, where he made 29 appearances for the side and scored three goals, playing on the left side of the wing. He joins the AC Milan reserve side, the ‘Milan Futuro’ who will compete in the Serie C for the 2024-25 season alongside the reserve sides of other established Serie A clubs like Juventus and Atalanta.
His deal with the Milan-based club will him at the club till 2027 and AC Milan would be hoping that the youngster and reach similar levels of success that his father helped the club reach back when he was putting on the iconic Red and Black jersey.

Zlatan has had a storied career in football having represented multiple clubs all over the globe. The 42-year-old started his career with Malmo FF in Sweden before leaving his home country to venture across the world. He is one of the few players who have represented all of Italy’s three major clubs, Juventus, Inter Milan and AC Milan, but his spell with the Rossoneri has been the longest among all of them.
Ibrahimovic Sr. spent a total of five years in the red half of Milan across two spells after first joining the Rossoneri on loan from Barcelona at the beginning of the 2010-11 season. Zlatan would go on to represent the club a total of 163 times scoring 93 goals and assisting 34 times, guiding the club to two Serie A titles and one Coppa Italia.
The legendary striker would hang up his boots at the end of the 2022/23 season, after a 24-year-long career in which he scored 496 goals and assisted 202 in 827 total appearances, on his way to a total of 32 career trophies across six clubs, including AC Milan, PSG, and Manchester United.
Post his retirement from playing, the Swedish icon has now taken up the role of advisor at AC Milan and is working with the club to help them prepare for the future. He personally recommended Milan’s new signing Alvaro Morata and works closely with new Milan boss Paulo Fonseca. He also pushed the club to set up the Milan Futuro, the side for whom his son will now play.
Maximillian Ibrahimovic is right at home at AC Milan as apart from this being a familiar set-up for him, he has the flamboyant Zlatan to help with his progress and his younger brother, Vincent, who is also a part of Milan’s youth sides.
