New Delhi: The Punjab Police is on high alert ahead of the Qualifier 1 and Eliminator of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, scheduled to be held in Mullanpur (New Chandigarh). Ahead of the play-offs, which kick off with Qualifier 1 between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS), the security in and around Mullanpur has been tightened in the aftermath of the recent conflict between India and Pakistan following the horrific Pahalgam attack, the Punjab Police said on Wednesday.

The IPL schedule was changed after the cash-rich tournament was suspended for a week following the intense three-day military conflict between India and Pakistan.

The revised schedule gave Mullanpur the hosting rights for Qualifier 1 on Thursday, May 28, and the eliminator on Friday, May 29. The Qualifier 2 and the final are scheduled in Ahmedabad on June 1 and 3.

Security tightened for IPL 2025 playoffs

Arpit Shukla, Special DGP (Law and Order), Punjab, provided the update on the security details.

According to various media reports, India will conduct fresh civil defence mock drills in several states on Thursday to strengthen emergency preparedness in the wake of the conflict with Pakistan earlier this month.

The mock-drill exercise will take place in Gujarat, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Jammu and Kashmir.

After Qualifier 1 between RCB and PBKS, Gujarat Titans (GT) and Mumbai Indians (MI) will lock horns in the Eliminator on Friday. The winner of the RCB vs PBKS clash will qualify for the final while the loser will get another shot at entering the final with a Qualifer 2 clash against the winner of Eliminator between GT and MI.
