New Delhi: The Amarnath Yatra is a revered pilgrimage undertaken by thousands of devotees each year to the holy Amarnath Cave in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. This sacred journey is dedicated to Lord Shiva and involves a trek through the challenging yet breathtaking terrain of the Himalayas.
The Amarnath Cave is one of the holiest shrines in Hinduism. It is believed that it is the site where Lord Shiva revealed the secret of immortality to his consort, Goddess Parvati. The cave has a natural formation of the ice-shivling, believed to be a physical manifestation of Lord Shiva, which waxes and wanes with the lunar cycle. This natural Shivling is the main attraction for devotees, symbolising divine energy and purity.
