An 8-year-old girl was gang raped and killed by three school seniors aged 12 and 13, in Pagidyala village, Muchumarri mandal, Nandyal district of Andhra Pradesh.
The three accused boys have been detained by the cops and they told investigators that they dumped her body in an irrigation canal to destroy evidence.
The incident took place on Sunday but came to light when the class 3 girl went missing and her father registered a complaint at a local police station. He said that she had gone to play at a park and did not come home later. Police questioned locals but could not find her but a sniffer dog led the police to the three boys.
All three minor boys, who went to the same school that the girl went to, admitted to raping and killing her during questioning, according to the police.
The three boys joined her while she was playing at the park and then took her to a secluded place near Muchumarri dam and took turns to rape her. They told the police that they were worried about the girl telling the truth to her parents, which is why they murdered her and threw her body in the canal.
Sub-Inspector of the Muchumarri police station said that the girl’s body was not found yet and that they were treating it as a missing case.
The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) from Vijayawada rushed to the scene to search for the dead body while student unions have called for a shutdown of educational institutions tomorrow, condemning the injustice to the girl.
