New Delhi: Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has noted that in the slump that his side are currently in, even Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, who is the top scorer in the Premier League with 21 goals and made 17 assists, would struggle. Spurs are set to meet Premier League table toppers Liverpool for the first leg of the EFL Cup semifinal on Wednesday.
Tottenham are currently placed 12th in the Premier League after losing three of their last four games. While Postecoglou acknowledged the 32-year-old’s outstanding stats this season but claimed that Salah would have much more work output required had he played for the London-based club due to the situation that Tottenham find themselves in this season.

Postecoglou further commented on the situation and said that the team as a whole needs to be in good form, create opportunities, play on the front foot and have a good solid defence that can be reliable. He further noted that Spurs don’t have any of these qualities at the moment and are more reliant on individuals outshining.
Postecoglou felt that Spurs captain Son Heung-min, who has only scored seven times in the season across competitions and made six assists would have shone amazingly in the Liverpool circuit. He felt that in the Reds team, the South Korean captain would have been in the scoring much more.
Spurs have activated a one-year extension for Son’s contract on Tuesday. The 32-year-old was named the club captain in 2023 and had previously shared the Golden Boot of the Premier League in 2021-22 with Salah, scoring 23 times. The Egypt international Mohamed Salah has just six months left in his Liverpool contract.
Tottenham will host Liverpool in the EFL Cup after being humiliated in December with 6-3 defeat in the same venue. However, Liverpool come to the fixture after Manchester United ended their four-game winning streak across competitions on Sunday with a 2-2 draw at Anfield.
With Tottenham Hotspur struggling in the Premier League, Ange Postecoglou suggested that Mohamed Salah would struggle at Tottenham Hotspur while Son Heung-min could shine with a side like Liverpool. Football Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
