Are Real Madrid targeting Trent Alexander-Arnold in January transfer from Liverpool?

New Delhi: Real Madrid are in a spot of bother with injury concerns as they lose their second captain and right-back Dani Carvajal. Carvajal sustained an injury during Madrid’s 2-0 win against Villareal and is expected to be away from the pitch for the entire season after tests revealed a triple rupture in his knee.

Los Blancos must re-evaluate losing their veteran right-back with Lucas Vazquez as the only option available in the position. Though Vazquez has faith in the club to stand in as the right-back for the season, Madrid will be trying to secure themselves with the services of Trent Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool and Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies.

According to the Spanish news outlet Marca, Real Madrid are looking to sign both Davies and Alexander-Arnold. However, both of these players will be out of contract by June 2025 and will arrive in the mix as free agents. Madrid have been monitoring Alexander-Arnold’s contract situation for quite some time now and will make a move only if he hasn’t signed a contract extension with their current team.

With a view to acquiring the services for the 2025-26 season, Madrid will make a contract offer for the 26-year-old right-back to Liverpool. If the terms are profitable for both parties in the pre-contract agreement, Madrid would, of course, want to sign the Alexander-Arnold’immediately. However, if the price asked by the Reds is too high, then they would wait for the summer for the English international’s arrival.

For a while now, Madrid have been victim to the most number of injuries, and all have been blamed on a packed international calendar with barely enough space for players to rest. Kylian Mbappe recently was sidelined for a couple of games after sustaining a muscle injury, while David Alaba is suffering an ACL injury, and Eder Militao has been constantly in and out of action. Madrid’s manager Carlo Ancelotti has repeatedly noted that the players aren’t getting enough rest between games, and their performances will eventually suffer.

Real Madrid are looking for options across Europe who can fill in the shoes for Dani Carvajal with Trent Alexander Arnold a strong contender for a transfer to the side.  Football Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
