Are Stock market and banks closed today on account of Maharashtra election?

Mumbai: The Indian stock market and banks will remain closed on November 20, 2204 (Wednesday) on the account of Maharashtra Assembly Election 2024. The stock exchanges National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) will observe a holiday for today.

The banks and stock exchanges are closed as the Maharashtra government declared November 20 as a state public holiday in view of the Assembly elections which are being conducted today.

All the banks – both private and public – will observe a holiday on Wednesday. The customers will have access to internet/imobile banking and ATM services. As the banks will remain closed today, people having urgent bank work-related work can visit the websites to complete their task
In regards to the stock market, the equity segment, SLB segment and the derivative segment will be closed.

Notably, banks will remain closed in Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur region due to byelection, the RBI holiday list mentioned. Banks will remain closed in Meghalaya on November 23 on the account of Seng Kutsnem.

Meanwhile, the BSE Sensex made a comeback and rebounded 239 points while NSE Nifty ended its seven-day losing streak on November 19. The exchanges gained as buying was recorded in banking, IT and auto stocks amid mixed global trends.

The Sensex gained 239.37 points to end at 77,578.38. During the day, the barometer appreciated 1,112.64 points to hit the day’s high of 78,451.65. However, at the end it pared the gains as Reliance Industries restricted the market rally. Nifty – the broader index jumped 64.70 points to close at 23,518.50. Intraday, it gained over 300 points to hit 23,780 level.
