New Delhi: The Indian cricket team crushed England by 68 runs to head into the T20 World Cup 2024 final, registering their seventh win on the trot and setting up a final showdown with South Africa. The second semi-final clash was held at the Providence Stadium in Guyana which saw the English side getting outplayed by the Men in Blue who avenged the wounds inflicted by them in the previous edition of the T20 showpiece.
The Indian spinners took all the spotlight as Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav rattled the English batting line-up during their run-chase of 172 runs. The Indian pace department had its say in the form of Jasprit Bumrah picking two wickets. Arshdeep Singh went wicket-less in his two-over spell as England were bowled out at 103 in 16.4 overs. Arshdeep is India’s death over specialist but it didn’t come to that.
However, the left-arm pacer has eclipsed Jasprit Bumrah for a huge milestone in the T20 World Cups for India. He has recorded the most wickets in a T29 World Cup edition for India in the ongoing tournament. While Bumrah took his tally to 13 wickets with the double strike, Arshdeep already has 15 scalps to his credit. It could be a personal battle between the two in the upcoming final against the Proteas.

15 – Arshdeep Singh (2024)
13 – Jasprit Bumrah (2024)

Rohit, spinners star in India’s win
The Indian skipper Rohit Sharma struck his second consecutive half-century at the T20 showpiece after being invited to bat first by the Three Lions. Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya followed with crucial contributions as India posted a daunting total of 171/7 in 20 overs. As England strode out to chase, Axar Patel started their decimation.
He struck in the first delivery of his first three overs to put India back in the game after England were off to a bit of a flier. Kuldeep Yadav joined the wicket-taking party with his three-fer as India rocked the Englishmen to cruise to their third T20 World Cup final.
Although Arshdeep Singh went wicket less in the India vs England semi-final at the T20 World Cup 2024, he has overtaken Indian pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah to achieve a giant feat in the marquee event.
