Attack on Hindu Temple in Canada: Another Suspect Arrested in Connection With Violent Altercation

Brampton: Peel Region Police announced the arrest of another individual in connection with a violent incident that took place at a Hindu temple in Brampton, Canada.

The arrest was made by investigators from the 21 Division Criminal Investigations Bureau and the Strategic Investigation Team (SIT).

According to an official police statement, the altercation occurred during a demonstration at a Mandir on The Gore Road. As tensions between opposing groups escalated, the demonstration turned violent, with participants reportedly using flags and sticks to assault people. Several of these assaults were captured on video, which has been instrumental in the ongoing investigation.

One of the suspects who is identified as 35-year-old Inderjeet Gosal of Brampton, was arrested on November 8 and charged with assault with a weapon. He has been released under specific conditions and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton at a later date.

The police have established a dedicated Strategic Investigative Team to examine the criminal activities that occurred during the November 3 and 4 incidents. The police said that complex investigations like this take time and arrests are made as suspects are identified, not in any particular order.

Authorities are continuing to review hundreds of videos to identify additional suspects and anticipate more arrests in the coming days.

Canadian MP Chandra Arya condemned the attack by Khalistani extremists on Hindu devotees at the Hindu Sabha temple in Brampton. He also took a dig at the politicians for framing the event as a Hindu-Sikh issue.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also denounced the attack in a statement posted on X.
