New Delhi: Serbian ace Novak Djokovic defeated Portugal’s Jaime Faria in the second round to continue his winning run at the Australian Open 2025. Faria did make the 24-time Grand Slam champion toil hard for victory by taking the second set against him in the hard-fought clash but Djokovic eventually prevailed to progress to the third round of the tournament.
The gap in experience was quite evident on the court but Faria gave a good account of skills and talent with a spirited performance against the mighty Serb. Djokovic dominated the proceedings at the start of the game to take the first set comfortably at 6-1. But Faria fought back in the game by winning the second set in a tiebreaker, showcasing great athleticism and agility.
