Mumbai: In 2024, Diwali in Ayodhya is set to be a historic and magnificent celebration, marking the first Diwali at the newly inaugurated Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple. Following years of legal battles and anticipation, this festival will hold special significance as devotees gather to celebrate the Festival of Lights in the presence of Lord Ram.

Ayodhya will attempt to set a new Guinness World Record by lighting 28 lakh diyas, creating a breathtaking sight across the city. The festivities will include Ram Leela performances and cultural showcases featuring artists from multiple countries, enriching the celebratory atmosphere. Vibrant rangoli designs will adorn the streets, reflecting the artistic spirit and devotion of the locals.

Diwali 2024 in Ayodhya promises a historic celebration with the inaugural festivities at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple, featuring millions of diyas and vibrant cultural programs.

Ayodhya Deepotsav

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced via social media that preparations for the eighth edition of Deepotsav in Ayodhya are officially underway. The aim is to set another Guinness World Record by lighting 28 lakh diyas on the occasion, as reported by PTI.

In his post, Adityanath mentioned, “The preparations for Deepotsav are in the final stages, the work of placing lamps is ongoing, trials for laser, sound, and drone shows are in progress.”

This year’s Deepotsav promises to be the grandest yet, marking the first celebration since the opening of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya on January 22.

The event has progressively grown in scale over the years, with the number of diyas increasing from 1.71 lakh in 2017 to 22.23 lakh in 2023, each year setting a new Guinness World Record. Volunteers are now gearing up to light 28 lakh diyas for the festivities.

This year’s Deepotsav will feature a Ram Leela performance from Uttarakhand and acts by artists from six different countries: Myanmar, Nepal, Thailand, Malaysia, Cambodia, and Indonesia.

Additionally, the animal husbandry department plans to illuminate 1,50,000 ‘Gau Deep’ during the festivities. To promote cleanliness and environmental awareness, special lamps that reduce soot and pollution will be used at the Ram Janmabhoomi temple.

The entire temple complex will be decorated with flowers and events will be broadcasted on Doordarshan and large LED screens placed throughout the city.

A magnificent Swastik symbol is being crafted using 80,000 diyas at Ghat Number 10 of Ram Ki Paidi, with the effort of over 150 dedicated volunteers. This grand display is set to be a major highlight of the Deepotsav celebration.

Ayodhya Ram Mandir Rangoli

Prime Minister Narendra Modi remarked on Tuesday, October 29 that Diwali holds a special significance this year as it marks the first time in 500 years that Lord Ram, also known as Ram Lalla, will celebrate the festival in the Ayodhya temple.

The year 2024 marks the inaugural Diwali celebration for the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya, following its inauguration in January 2024.

The temple’s construction was made possible after the Supreme Court ruled in favour of its establishment, concluding a long-standing legal battle related to the Gyanvapi case. In addition, the apex court directed the government to allocate a significant piece of land in Ayodhya for the construction of a mosque.
