Kolkata: The Ayushman Bharat Scheme is the flagship healthcare benefit scheme of the Centre that was launched in September 2018. Now the scheme offers free medical treatment to citizens over 70 years annually if they have the Ayushman Bharat’s Vay Vandana Card. The Centre expanded the scope of the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) enlist tis benefit. Most significant, it will offer cashless treatment at both public and empanelled private hospitals across the country. It is available irrespective of the economic standing of the beneficiary.
“Senior citizens aged 70 and above can now get their Ayushman Vay Vandana Card through the Ayushman App and access Rs 5 lakh of free treatment,” the government has stated. The Ayushman Bharat Vay Vandana Card is available through the Ayushman App or website.
How to apply for Ayushman Vay Vandana Card
ONE: Download the Ayushman App
TWO: Log in as a beneficiary (or operator)
THREE: Type in the captcha, mobile phone number. Complete authentication
FOUR: Type in OTP and captcha code. Click Login
FIVE: Grant access to location in the device
SIX: Type in information about beneficiary, state and Aadhaar
SEVEN: If no beneficiary is found, proceed with eKYC process. Consent to OTP
EIGHT: Provide a declaration and fill necessary fields
NINE: Enter beneficiary’s mobile number and OTP sent
TEN: Type all required details
ELEVEN: Add information of family members. Then Submit
TWELVE: Once e-KYC is complete, approval will be sent. Download Ayushman Vay Vandana Card
Main benefits
The Senior Citizen Scheme in Ayushman Bharat PMJAY offers procedures like hemodialysis/peritoneal dialysis, knee and hip replacements, cardiology treatments like PTCA and pacemaker implantations, stroke and cancer care and orthopaedic surgeries. It offers coverage for 1,961 medical procedures in 27 domains. Significantly, all pre-existing illnesses covered from day one. As many as 30,000 empanelled hospitals (including 13,352 private facilities) are supposed to offer cashless facilities to the card holders.
The Ayushman Bharat Vay Vandana Card is available through the Ayushman App or website. The cardholders are entitled to a number of medical treatments across a widespan and in cashless mode in thousands of hospitals and private centres across the country.
