Baba Siddique death: Yuvraj Singh shocked by brutal murder of Maharashtra politician

New Delhi: Former Maharashtra Minister Baba Siddique was shot dead in Mumbai on Saturday evening. As per the reports, two to three rounds were fired at the NCP leader outside his MLA son Zeeshan Siddiqui’s office.

He was quickly taken to the Lilavati Hospital for treatment, where he died shortly after arrival. The news of his murder sent shockwaves across India. He was one of the biggest leaders in Maharashtra and shared a good bond with many Bollywood celebrities as well as a few cricketers.

Salman Khan, Shilpa Shetty and other celebrities visited Lilavati Hospital to meet Siddiqui’s family. Former India cricketer Yuvraj Singh reacted to his death on the social media platform ‘X’. He posted a tweet at 2 AM midnight and wrote ‘Shocked and deeply saddened by the untimely passing of Baba Siddique. A true leader who worked tirelessly for the people, his sincerity and large-heartedness will be remembered by all who knew him. My condolences to his family during this incredibly difficult time. May his soul find eternal peace..’

Who was Baba Siddique?

Baba Siddique was known for the Iftaar parties he threw almost every year in the month of Ramadan. Many famous Bollywood celebrities used to attend those parties. He was also credited for ending the rift between Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan.

Siddique started his career through college politics and also worked as a Municipal Corporator in the Mumbai Municipal Corporation. He was elected as MLA for three consecutive terms in 1999, 2004, and 2009. After working in the Congress party for 48 years, Siddique joined Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party earlier this year.
