New Delhi: Bangladesh will face India in the two-match Test series starting September 19. The first match of the series will be played in Chennai. Najmul and Co. created history at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium by defeating Pakistan 2-0 in the Test series.
The Bangla Tigers registered their maiden Test series win against Pakistan on September 3. Shan Masood and Co. struggled to score against Bangladeshi spinners throughout the series and suffered a shameful defeat at home.
Bangladesh defeated Pakistan by 6 wickets in the second Test to win the series. Chasing the target of 185 runs in the fourth innings, Zakir Hasan (40), Najmul Hossein Shanto (38) and Mominul Haque (34) made crucial contributions in the chase to help the team win on Pakistan soil.
Not many expected Bangladesh to dominate Pakistan in Tests as they were under a lot of pressure after losing six consecutive matches. Skipper Najmul after the Test series victory said that it feels great when the team is winning and it is important to enjoy these moments.
“One word: belief. It feels great when you are winning. It is important to enjoy these moments. I think such a moment has never come in the Bangladesh team’s history. Cricketers look for references. Now we have one. We know that we have the ability to win abroad” Shanto told ESPNCricinfo.
