Kolkata: Despite the proliferation of ATMs and online banking, many people still have to visit branches of banks for getting their work done. Therefore, knowing whether a bank is closed today (Saturday) or not is significant for them. Bank holidays are always set by the banking regulator Reserve Bank of India (RBI). RBI rules state that banks across India remain closed for physical business every month on two Saturdays. Besides these two Saturdays, banks will be closed on all Sundays.
On these two Saturdays every month, all branches of all banks will be closed to customers. No customer of any bank can walk into a branch to get any work done on the Saturdays declared a holiday by RBI. The Saturdays when branches of all banks remain closed for physical business are every second and fourth Saturday of any month. According to the RBI guideline, therefore, branches of all banks will remain closed for physical business today (Saturday, February 8). Today is the second Saturday of February 2025.
