New Delhi: Redevelopment of the Barddhaman Junction of the Eastern Railway is complete. DRM Howrah on social media platform X informed that beautification of Barddhaman Junction Railway Station under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS) has been completed. The station is modified by providing RGBW LED luminaries with DMX Controller-based Multicolor Facade Lighting System. The modification was started last year to reshape travel experiences and boost local economies.
Barddhaman Railway Station revamp
The beautification of Barddhaman Junction Railway Station started last year in August under PM Narendra Modi’s ambitious Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. To improve the railway station infrastructure and equip with modern amenities, modern touches have been added to the station. The station now boasts of large waiting areas, beautifully designed interiors, and elegant waiting halls. The entrance of the station is looking better with improved look and lighting. To make station more eco-friendly with energy-saving lights, better waste management, and a focus on responsible development has been given.

Metal Fencing completed in Howrah-Khana Chord Line Section
In another tweet, Eastern Railway informed that it’s Howrah Division completed 200 kilometers of metal fencing on the Howrah-Khana Chord line section. It’s a significant milestone in enhancing railway safety and efficiency. The metal fencing project was completed in just 8 months. There are many benefits of meta-fencing. It will provide better safety as it will stop cattle entry on tracks which will ultimately help in the prevention of accidents. It will be minimising train delays as there will be no trespassing resulting in safeguarding human lives.

The scheme aims to modernise railway stations across India. It plans to upgrade 1275 stations in total. The scheme has a vision to continuously develop stations by improving accessibility, waiting areas, toilets, installing lifts and escalators, keeping stations clean, providing free Wi-Fi, and setting up kiosks for local products.
