New Delhi: Punjab Kings (PBKS) captain Shreyas Iyer’s mother and his sister sent a special message to the team ahead of their high-octane clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 final on Tuesday. RCB and PBKS will be looking to lift their maiden IPL title when the two teams lock horns in the summit clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Punjab Kings secured their spot in the final after thrashing Mumbai Indians (MI) by six wickets in the Qualifier 2 in Ahmedabad last week. PBKS, who topped the points table in the group stage, suffered a crushing 8-wicket defeat against RCB in the first Qualifier, but bounced back to beat MI to reach their first final in 11 years.

Punjab Kings last played the IPL final in 2014, when they lost to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to miss out on their maiden title. However, under Iyer’s leadership, PBKS have played like a cohesive unit, with players standing up for them on different occasions to help the team earn results regularly. Punjab Kings will be hoping to topple RCB in the final on Tuesday to clinch their first trophy.

Ahead of the all-important final, Punjab Kings shared a video of Iyer’s sister and her mother’s special message for the squad. The duo began the video with the Punjabi phrase “chardi kala” which means high spirits. They thanked the Punjab Kings fans for their support to the team before wishing the players all the best for the big final.

Onus on Shreyas Iyer the leader to guide PBKS to maiden title

Iyer has enjoyed a phenomenal season both as a captain and a batter for Punjab Kings in the IPL 2025 and has played an imperative role in helping his team reach the final after 11 years. The onus will once again be on leader Iyer to help PBKS cross the final hurdle and lift their maiden trophy on Tuesday. Iyer is the first captain to lead two teams to an IPL final and can become the first to win two IPL titles with two different teams.
