“The situation there (Bangladesh) is not very good. We were staying at a guest house there which was linked to some workers of Awami League. There were around 37 Indians in that guest house which was attacked and stone pelted. We were on the seventh floor, power and water connections were cut off, the main gate was damaged and torched. We were rescued by the locals,” said one of the employees of Dhaka-Tongi-Joydebpur railway expansion project after reaching Delhi from Bangladesh’s Dhaka earlier today.

The United States Wednesday said it is ready to work with the interim government of Bangladesh as the country charts a democratic future for its people.

“We continue to monitor developments in Bangladesh, and we obviously have seen the appointment of Muhammad Yunus as the leader of an interim government,” State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller told reporters at his daily news conference.
