New Delhi: England batter Ben Duckett on Saturday became the first player in the history of Champions Trophy to score over 150 in an innings. The left-handed batter achieved the feat during the Match No.4 between Australia and England at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

Duckett scored an instrumental 165 off 143 balls, his innings was laced by 17 boundaries and three sixes, to power England to a formidable score of 351 for 8 in the first innings. By the virtue of his splendorous knock, Duckett became the highest individual scorer of the Champions Trophy, surpassing the previous best record held by New Zealand’s Nathan Astle (145* vs USA in 2004 in London).

England also posted the highest total by a team in the history of the tournament. The 351/8 is the first instance where a team has managed to cross the 350-run mark in ODIs ever since the Champions Trophy was started in 2004. The previous highest total was named after New Zealand, amassing 347 for 4 against USA, which is the same match wherein Astle scored 145 (as mentioned above).
