New Delhi: Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) team Bengal Warriorz has announced Naveen Kumar as their new head coach for the next season (12) of the tournament, moving on from the services of Prashant Surve. Hailing from Haryana, Naveen Kumar is a decorated former kabaddi player who has had an illustrious career both as a player and a coach and will bring a wealth of experience to the team.
The new Warriorz coach boasts a remarkable track record in the game and has represented the nation as well, winning gold medals at several events. Some of his notable triumphs have come at the 10th South Asian Games (2006), 15th Asian Games (2006), 2nd World Cup (2007), and 2nd Indoor Asian Games (2007). His winning mindset and the fighting spirit combinedly will be beneficial for the Warriorz, one of the founding teams in the PKL.
Talking about his stint as a coach, Naveen Kumar has been exceptional in leadership qualities and his tactical acumen. He is known for his ability to nurture and work with young talent, setting them on the course to a successful career. Not to forget, he has also coached national and domestic teams and has guided them to multiple finishes at podium.
His resume also includes having coached the Indian Navy and the Sports Authority of India (SAI) teams. His familiarity with the sport, along with his vast knowledge, makes him a good mentor to the budding players and will only add value to the existing roster of the Warriorz.
