BGT: Irfan Pathan backs Jadeja after all-rounder face criticism from Australian media

New Delhi: Former India cricketer Irfan Pathan backs Ravindra Jadeja after the all-rounder faced heavy criticism from the Australian media for giving an interview in Hindi during the press conference at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) ahead of the Boxing Day Test match, starting from December 26.

The media interaction was arranged by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for travelling media while some of the Australian media outlets also came to attend it. The Indian media asked their questions in Hindi and Jadeja also replied in the same language while some of the Australian journalists also lined up to ask their questions. But the Indian team bus was getting late and Jadeja left the stadium without taking any questions from Australian media.

Pressure is intensifying on India ahead of the Boxing Day test with the tourists adopting a siege mentality.

Some of the local journalists also got angry at the BCCI media manager and the heated moments were captured by cameras and later aired on Australian channels. Reacting to the controversy, Irfan supported Jadeja and asked on X what’s wrong if the player wants to give an interview in Hindi.
