Washington: In the hotly anticipated live interview with Billionaire Elon Musk on X, Former President Donald Trump, accused President Joe Biden of “failing miserably” in their recent debate and claimed Biden’s decision to exit the 2024 race was a “coup” orchestrated by Democrats.
The interview, broadcast on Trump’s official X account, got off to a rocky start due to major technical issues. Many users were unable to join the conversation, leaving only a small number able to tune in. Despite this, over 1 million people managed to listen once the discussion finally began, according to a counter on the platform.
“Congratulations on breaking every record in the book,” Trump remarked, referencing the high interest in the interview, which has been dubbed by his campaign as the “interview of the century.” The conversation, initially marred by tech glitches, quickly turned to more serious topics, including Trump’s views on his political opponents.
Musk, who has openly criticized Democrats and recently endorsed Trump, noted that the interview was “unscripted with no limits on subject matter.” This approach gave Trump the opportunity to comment on the assassination attempt and take shots at President Joe Biden. The interview comes at a time when Vice President Kamala Harris has been gaining ground in polls, challenging Trump’s position.
Trump also took the opportunity to share a campaign video on X, portraying himself as a victim of persecution by forces he claims are trying to “destroy” the United States. This marked Trump’s first post on the platform in over a year, following the restoration of his account by Musk, who acquired X and overturned the ban placed on Trump after the January 6 Capitol riot.
The interview, which Musk described as potentially “highly entertaining,” was seen by many as an attempt by Trump to regain the political spotlight amid growing challenges from his Democratic rivals.
