Big Cricket League announces TV9 Bharatvarsh as official news partner for season 1

New Delhi: Big Cricket League (BCL) has recently announced TV9 Bharatvarsh as its official news partner for the inaugural season in what is considered as a big step for the tournament. The brand partnership was confirmed by the tournament organisers on Tuesday.

The Big Cricket League is designed as a unique platform which will bridge the gap between domestic talent and iconic cricketers. This will allow the players, who have sheer love for cricket but not the elite experience, to rub shoulders with some of the legendary players of the sport. The tournament was launched by legendary cricketers Dilip Vengsarkar and Courtney Walsh in May this year. Former Indian pacer Rudra Pratap Singh is the founder and president of BCL.

TV9 Bharatvarsh is the Hindi-language news channel of the TV9 network and also the sister channel to News9live.

“Taking a BIG step to the next level with the nation’s best! We are delighted to announce our association with TV9 Bharatvarsh as our official news partner for season 1 of the Big Cricket League,” the BCL announced on its social media platforms.

What to expect from the Big Cricket League?

The Big Cricket League is a brainchild of former Indian fast bowler RP Singh, who played 14 Tests, 58 One-Day Internationals and 10 T20 Internationals. The tournament’s concept is a unique and first of its kind to provide an opportunity for these fans and aspiring local Indian cricketers to enjoy the game of cricket as never before.

A total of six franchises will be participating in the inaugural season, where 18 matches will be played, including the final. Awadh Lions, Bengal Rhinos, Mumbai Marines, Northern Challengers, Rajasthan Kings, and Southern Spartans are the teams set to feature in the first season.

Each team will play all five oppositions once in the round-robin format. The team which will finish at the top of the points table will automatically earn a berth in the final. There will be an Eliminator match (3rd place vs 4th place teams) followed by the Qualifier match (2nd place vs Winner of the Eliminator) to determined the second finalist.

The schedule and squads are yet to be announced by the Big Cricket League.
