New Delhi: The Union Budget 2024 was presented on Tuesday by Union Minister of Finance, Nirmala Sitharaman. In her speech, the Finance Minister said that the focus of the government continues to be women, poor, youth and farmers.
This is the first Budget of the Modi 3.0, which is a coalition government. It is unique since for the first time PM Narendra Modi is heading a coalition government. The last 2 government were full majority government of the BJP and hence the Budget announcements reflected the party’s stamp. This time however, Sitharaman would have to tread a fine line, between maintaining a balance in the Budget to keep all coalition partners happy.

Government to strengthen production, storage and marketing of pulses, said the Finance Minister in Lok Sabha
Government in partnership with states will promote digital public infrastructure for agriculture, said Sitharaman in the Lok Sabha in her Budget speech
Large scale vegetable production clusters would be promoted to increase production
In next 2 years one crore farmers will be initiated in natural farming
Financing for shrimp farming and export through NABARD
Kisan Credit cards to be released in 5 states
Government to provide funding to both public and private sectors for promoting research in new varieties of crops
New 109 high-yielding and climate resilient varieties of 32 field and horticulture crops will be released for cultivation by farmers.
