New Delhi: Delhi Capitals (DC) pacer Dushmantha Chameera produced a stunning effort on the boundary rope to pull off one of the best catches in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 during his side’s clash against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on Tuesday. Chameera took an absolute screamer to dismiss KKR all-rounder Anukul Roy in the game.
The dismissal took place on the fourth delivery of the final over of KKR’s innings. Mitchell Starc, who trapped the dangerous Rovman Powell lbw on the previous delivery, tried to nail a yorker to new batter Anukul. However, the left-arm pacer ended up missing the mark, offering a half volley to the batter.
Anukul capitalised well and whipped the ball towards the backward square leg. The ball was sailing over the rope, but Chameera cut it short with an extraordinary effort as he ran towards his left and dived full stretch towards his left to pull off a fabulous flying catch. It was an excellent effort from the Sri Lankan, who dived full stretch and managed to hold on to the ball while running towards his left.
The catch left Anukul stunned as Chameera’s DC teammates ran towards him to mob and celebrate the fantastic effort. Chameera’s catch can arguably be one of the strongest contenders for the ‘Catch of the Season’ in IPL 2025 after his Sri Lankan teammate Kamindu Mendis pulled off a similar effort for Sunrisers Hyderabad in their last game against Chennai Super Kings.
