New Delhi: The Beijing Football Association has confirmed that an agreement has been reached with Guo Jiaxuan’s family to bring him back to China for further treatment. The 18-year-old Beijing Guoan U19 defender suffered a severe injury during a training session in Spain last Thursday, which reportedly led to brain death. Guo, a highly-rated young footballer, had been training in Madrid when the incident occurred, raising serious concerns about his condition and future medical care.

His injury sent shockwaves through the Chinese football community, with many questioning what had happened and whether he would receive the necessary medical attention. His family has been trying to secure his return to China, fearing uncertainties regarding his treatment and compensation. Now, with an agreement in place, the focus shifts to his next steps in recovery and what support he will receive once back home.

A staff member from the Beijing Football Association stated that they are fully committed to ensuring Guo Jiaxuan gets the best possible treatment. The organisation will provide further updates in due course. However, they did not disclose who would cover the medical expenses but assured that “everything will be fully supported.”

Guo’s family has been actively seeking a way to bring him home since the incident. His father, who arrived in Spain on Saturday, opposed an autopsy and submitted a formal request to the local court to allow his son’s return. Reports suggest that Guo suffered severe intracranial bleeding, and despite emergency treatment in Madrid, his condition remained critical.

A social media post from a user claiming to be Guo’s family member had earlier raised concerns about the lack of clarity regarding his treatment and compensation. The Beijing Football Association’s latest statement now confirms that arrangements have been made.

Born in Beijing in 2006, Guo was a rising star in Chinese football. He had represented Beijing Guoan in national youth competitions and played for China’s U17 team. His talent also earned him a spot in the Bayern World Team in 2023, making him the only Chinese player selected. He previously trained with FC Bayern Munich, showcasing his potential at an international level.

With his return to China now confirmed, his family and the football community will hope for the best possible outcome in his continued treatment.
