New Delhi: Manchester City will play Crystal Palace tonight at Selhurst Park in an attempt to win back-to-back Premier League games in as few as four days. Before falling to the Citizens 4-2 at home in April, the Eagles earned a point in a 2-2 draw at Etihad Stadium around this time last year.
Since dropping three straight games from September 28 to October 21, Crystal Palace have only lost once in their last six games, earning nine points to increase their chances of surviving. The Eagles defeated Ipswich Town 1-0 on the road Tuesday night, extending their winning streak to three games. The Eagles have only won two of their last eighteen Premier League encounters with Man City, and both of those wins were obtained at the Etihad Stadium in December 2018 and October 2020, so victory on Saturday might be difficult.
With a 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest on Wednesday, Pep Guardiola’s team ended their dismal run of play. Man City had fallen into trouble after going seven games without a win in all competitions, losing six of those games, and giving up 19 goals during that time. The Citizens earned maximum points for the first time since the end of October with to goals from Jeremy Doku, Kevin De Bruyne, and Bernardo Silva. The defending champions also maintained just their third clean sheet of the season.
However, the Citizens have won seven of their last nine away Premier League encounters with Crystal Palace, including the previously mentioned 4-2 triumph at Selhurst Park in April of last season, so they can be a little confident of winning this one.
