CT 2025 Final: Rohit Sharma misses out on ton, but shuts down critics with sublime knock vs New Zealand

New Delhi: Indian captain Rohit Sharma shuts down his critics with a sensational knock in the Champions Trophy 2025 final against New Zealand at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday, March 9. The right-handed opener took New Zealand bowlers to the cleaners at the start and smashed them all over the ground.

Chasing the 252-run target on a tricky pitch, Rohit started his innings with a maximum over the deep square leg on the second ball. He continued his explosive batting against William O’Rourke and hit him for fours across both sides. Rohit smashed three boundaries and three maximums in the first 10 overs of the innings and completed his fifty in just 41 balls.

Shubman Gill also found his touch after the powerplay and forged a 105-run opening partnership with Rohit. Mitchell Santner removed Gill on 31 runs, and Bracewell dismissed Kohli on 1 run to put the Men in Blue under pressure. Few moments later, Rachin Ravindra dismissed Rohit on 76 runs in the 27th over. Ravindra dragged the length back and got the ball to rip across the Indian captain, and Rohit stepped outside to hit a boundary but missed it completely, and Latham does the rest behind wicket. The Men in Blue will look to lift their second consecutive ICC Trophy after winning the 2024 T20 World Cup in the West Indies.
