New Delhi: The Hindi Academy, under the Department of Art, Culture & Languages of the Delhi Government, is set to host ‘Basant Utsav’ on March 8 and 9, 2025, at Basant Udhyan, Vasant Vihar. This annual festival, beginning at 6 pm, will bring together some of India’s most celebrated classical dancers in a mesmerising display of artistic excellence, while also honouring International Women’s Day.

The festival’s opening night will feature a stellar lineup of accomplished artists. Renowned Kuchipudi exponent Yamini Reddy will present Shringara, an evocative performance capturing the essence of love and beauty. Sindhu Mishra and Group will enthral audiences with Navdurga, a powerful Bharatanatyam presentation celebrating the divine feminine. Shovana Narayan, a distinguished Kathak dancer, will bring the vibrancy of spring to life with Aayo Ri Basant, a rhythmic and expressive masterpiece.

On March 9, the stage will come alive with equally spellbinding performances. Arshia Mathur and Kritika Kumar will present Shivoham, a Bharatanatyam piece invoking the divine energy of Lord Shiva. The legendary Dr. Sonal Mansingh will narrate Krishna’s Natya Katha, a dance-drama celebrating the life and tales of Lord Krishna. The event will conclude with Ranjana Gauhar and Group, who will showcase Shiva, an Odissi performance that pays tribute to the cosmic dancer, Nataraja.

Adding to the grandeur of the occasion, the festival will be inaugurated by the Hon’ble Minister of Art, Culture & Languages, Delhi, Shri Kapil Mishra, with Shri Anil Kumar Sharma, Hon’ble MLA, attending as the Guest of Honour.

The event is expected to draw art connoisseurs, dance enthusiasts, and cultural aficionados eager to witness India’s rich classical heritage unfold on stage.
