Jaipur, Rajasthan: In an inspiring turn of events, a group of young girls from the small city of Dheengsari showcased their talent on a major stage, participating in a state-level football training program organized by the Rajasthan Football Association supported by Rajasthan United Football Club and Dwarka Gems. The spirited display of skill, resilience, and teamwork not only captured the attention of spectators but deeply moved senior IAS officer, Neeraj K. Pawan, who has been a long-time advocate for women’s empowerment.
The event, held at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, where the girls from Dheengsari, a village known more for its traditional values than sporting accolades, captured the spotlight.
Their journey to the training program was paved with challenges—from limited access to training facilities to societal skepticism. However, their grit and determination were evident on the field as they matched their opponents stride for stride, showing that potential and dedication can turn dreams into reality.
Once-in-a-lifetime opportunity
Ms.Julia Farr, a globally recognized German football educator and Head of Asia Pacific at Borussia Dortmund, a prominent German football club, expressed her admiration for the exceptionally talented young players from Rajasthan whom she encountered during her recent two-day workshop in Jaipur.
She specifically mentioned Manju Rajput, who has been selected for an immersive five-day training program in Germany from a group of fourteen female footballers based in the state’s Dheengsari village.
Neeraj K. Pawan, currently the Sports Secretary, took centre stage as he presented Manju Rajput with a specially designed jersey as a token of recognition. He extended his congratulations and best wishes, highlighting the immense potential of these young athletes. “It is incredibly heartening to see how far these girls have come. Their journey is a testament to hard work, resilience, and the power of opportunities,” said Pawan, with a proud smile.
Roshni Tank is the President of the Women’s Wing of the Rajasthan Football Association, which has been instrumental in promoting women’s participation in sports across the state. Tank commended the girls for their dedication and expressed hope that many more success stories will come from Rajasthan’s young female athletes.
Dr. K. K. Tak, Chairman of Rajasthan United Football Club, underscored the importance of providing resources and mentorship to aspiring players from all backgrounds.
Kaushik Moulik, Senior Advisor, shared words of encouragement and acknowledged the global potential of grassroots sports initiatives.

During this visit, officials from the German Football Association (DFB) expressed their willingness to provide assistance in promoting football within the state of Rajasthan. This includes initiatives such as training young footballers, conducting coaches’ programs, and establishing a support network.
