Washington: Former US President Donald Trump shared Diwali greetings with the Indian community and the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi , emphasizing his support for Hindu Americans and condemning recent violence against Hindus, Christians, and other minorities in Bangladesh . Trump extended Diwali wish, saying, “Happy Diwali to All. I hope the Festival of Lights leads to the Victory of Good over Evil!”
In a post on X on Thursday, Donald Trump, the Republican Party candidate for the US Presidential elections, characterised the situation in Bangladesh as chaotic and expressed his disapproval of the attacks and looting faced by minority communities.

“I strongly condemn the barbaric violence against Hindus, Christians, and other minorities who are getting attacked and looted by mobs in Bangladesh,” he stated. He asserted that such events would not have occurred during his presidency, criticising his opponent in the presidential elections and US Vice-President Kamala Harris and President Joe Biden for their perceived neglect of Hindu issues both globally and domestically.
Trump also took the opportunity to criticise the Biden administration’s handling of various international issues, from relations with Israel and Ukraine to domestic policies affecting small businesses. He pledged that, if re-elected, he would reinstate the policies that he claimed led to economic growth and security during his administration.
“We will protect Hindu Americans against the anti-religion agenda of the radical left,” he promised, asserting his intent to strengthen ties with India under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership.
In his remarks, Trump refuted claims made by Vice President Harris, who accused him of wanting to end the Affordable Care Act and Social Security. He labeled her statements as falsehoods, claiming they were fabricated to distract from her declining political standing.
