New Delhi: In the most anticipated main event of UFC 305 in RAC Arena in Perth, Australia on August 18, Sunday. Dricus Du Plessis retained his middleweight title against Israel Adesanya in a grudge match. There was a heated rivalry between both the fighters and Du Plessis stopped Adesanya in the fourth round by submitting him by rear naked choke.
Round one was very closed as both fighters took some shots and maintained the distance but Du Plessis came on top in the second round by his grappling and takedown Adesanya on the mat and tried to submit Adesanya. In the third round, Adesanya made a solid comeback dropping Du Plessis a couple of times and making the champion tired.
At the start of the fourth round, Adesanya was also on top and landed some shots early but Du Plessis turned things up in the last moments and hit three back-to-back punches and then went for the submission and was successful in the attempt to defeat Adesanya.
Adesanya lost his return fight but told his fans in the post-match interview that he is not going anywhere and continue to fight. After the fight, Alex Pereira posted a photo on his social media stating he is coming back to the middleweight division to win the belt from Du Plessis.
In the co-main event, Kai Kara France stopped Steve Erceg in the first round and moved close to contention for the Bantamweight Championship. Erceg started the bout on a positive note connecting some punches but when Kai Kara went for kickboxing he connected a powerful left hook to Erceg which made him down to the ground and then went for another strike and won the fight by TKO.
