Eid ul-Adha, a significant public holiday in Muslim-majority countries, will be observed in 2024 starting from the evening of Sunday, June 16, and concluding on the evening of Thursday, June 20.
In 2024, Muslims across many countries such as Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, UK, US, and Canada will observe Eid-ul-Adha crescent moon on the evening of Wednesday, June 6, 2024, which is the 29th day of the Hijri month Dhul Qa’adah. As the moon was sighted on June 7, 2024, which means Dhul Hijjah was observed on the next day 7 June 2024, and Eid-ul-Adha will be celebrated on June 16, with the Day of Arafat observed on June 15.
On the other hand, Muslims in India, Pakistant and other South Asian countries sighted the cresent moon of Dhul Hijjah on June 07, 2024 and will celebrate Eid al-adha on 18 June 2024. This is because the beginning of the Islamic month of Dhu Al-Hijjah marks the Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia, one of Islam’s five pillars and is followed by Eid Al Adha on the tenth day.
