Mumbai: In Hinduism, the Ekadashi Tithi is considered highly auspicious and dedicated to the worship of Lord Vishnu. In order to obtain the complete blessings of Lord Vishnu, devotees perform special prayers and strictly observe a fast on this holy day. There are 24 Ekadashi days in a year, each with its own significance.
Ekadashi in June 2024
Apara Ekadashi: This month, Apara Ekadashi will be celebrated on June 2, 2024. The breaking of the fast for Apara Ekadashi will be on June 3, 2024, between 8:05 AM and 8:10 AM.
Nirjala Ekadashi: Nirjala Ekadashi will be observed on June 18, 2024. The breaking of the fast for Nirjala Ekadashi will be on June 19, 2024, between 5:08 AM and 7:28 AM.
Ekadashi Puja: Morning and evening rituals
Get up early and take a holy bath.
Your home and temple should be thoroughly cleaned.
Make a resolution to observe the fast with purity.
Make a shrine with a Shree Yantra and idols of Lord Vishnu, Lord Krishna, and Goddess Lakshmi.
Take Ganga water and bathe your idols.
In front of the deities, light a ghee lamp.
To the Lord, offer fruits and Panchamrit with Tulsi leaves.
Pray to Lord Vishnu by chanting Vedic mantras.
Puja should be performed in the evening.
Read the Ekadashi Vrat Katha (story).
Conclude the puja with an aarti.
Those fasting can consume fruits and milk products, but during Nirjala Ekadashi, nothing should be eaten.
