New Delhi: Team India and Mumbai batter Suryakumar Yadav on Wednesday rubbished the reports of a potential move to Goa with a hilarious tweet. His response came after a leading daily claimed that Suryakumar might follow his Mumbai teammate Yashasvi Jaiswal in switching alliance to Goa for the next season.
In a shock move, Jaiswal quit Mumbai to join Goa for the next domestic season after being offered a leadership role in his new side. Jaiswal obtained an NOC from the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) and will be playing for Goa in the domestic circuit. The left-hander rose through the ranks in Mumbai cricket before earning his India debut in 2023.
Jaiswal confirmed to the Indian Express that he was offered captaincy and didn’t want to let go of the opportunity while explaining the reason behind his move, which has left many shocked. Following Jaiswal’s move to Goa, an Indian daily reported that Surykumar might be the next Mumbai player to join Goa along with prominent names from other states.
However, Suryakumar took little time in debunking the rumours and clarified that he is not planning to leave Mumbai. “Script writer hai ya journalist? Agar hasna hai toh I will stop watching comedy movies and start reading these articles. Ekdum bakwas,” he wrote on X, quashing the rumours.
