New Delhi: England will take on Australia in the fourth ODI of the five-match series at the Lord’s Cricket Ground in London on Friday. The series is currently being led by the visitors 2-1 who pummeled England in the first and the second ODI but couldn’t seal the series as England bounced back in the third ODI to stay alive in the series. They will look to continue the winning momentum while Australia will eye a series win.
The arch-rivals are known for producing electrifying battles across the formats and ODI is no other exception. The first two ODIs showed why Australia are a force to be reckoned with, even while taking on their arch-nemesis. They beat the Harry Brook-led side by seven wickets in the first ODI and grabbed a win in the second by a 68-run margin. While Travis Head headlined the first ODI with his uneaten 154, Alex Carey and skipper Mitchell Marsh shone with their fifties in the second.
The third ODI was a rain-curtailed game as England invited Australia to bat first and Carey and Steven Smith rose to the occasion with 77* and 60 respectively. Aaron Hardie and Cameron Green contributed as well to take the scoreboard to 304/7 in 50 overs. England in response hit 254 at the cost of four wickets in 37.4 overs as the game was cut short and England were declared the winners by 46 runs. Will Jacks hit a brilliant 84 while Brook was handed the Player of the Match award for his unbeaten 110-run knock.
