England pacer James Anderson registers for IPL 2025 Mega Auction, Stokes opts out

New Delhi: Former England fast bowler James Anderson has registered his name for the upcoming IPL 2025 mega auction. He retired from Test cricket recently during a series against West Indies and has never played in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

He has registered for the upcoming mega-auction at INR 1.25 crore. Anderson’s last T20 game was more than 10 years ago when he played in the Natwest T20 Blast match between Lancashire and Warwickshire. After retirement, he’s currently working with the England team as a bowling coach. He has played 19 T20I matches and picked up 18 wickets at an economy of 7.85.

Anderson recently said that he’s well aware that he won’t play for England again but has not decided on his cricket career yet. He further added that there’s definitely a bit of intrigue with T20 cricket because he has not played any franchise stuff before.

“I might be in a bit of denial because I’m well aware I won’t play for England again, but I’ve still not made a decision on my actual cricket career,” Anderson told the Press Association.

“There’s definitely a bit of intrigue with the shorter formats because I’ve not played any franchise stuff before. Watching The Hundred this year, seeing the ball swing around, it makes me feel like I could do a job there. I know it’s a while since I played it and my age will get brought up again but I really feel I’ll be good enough to play that form of cricket” he added.

Stokes opts not to enter IPL auction

England Test skipper Ben Stokes has opted out of the upcoming IPL 2025 mega auction as he is prioritising Test cricket once more. He suffered a hamstring injury in The Hundred this year and missed the Test series against Sri Lanka and last month’s opener against Pakistan.

Stokes also opted out of this year’s IPL and T20 World Cup to remain fit for home Test series against West Indies and Sri Lanka. After the IPL 2025, England will face India in the five-match Test series, starting on June 20.

James Anderson, who recently announced his retirement from Test cricket, has registered his name for the IPL 2025 mega auction. Meanwhile, England Test skipper Ben Stokes opted out of the upcoming mega auction.  Cricket Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
