New Delhi: Former Indian bowling coach Bharat Arun will conduct a specialised training program for Sri Lanka cricketers across all the levels from June 2. The 14-day training program will be conducted across men’s and women’s teams and also the senior setups so as to elevate their on-field skills. It is being learnt that Sri Lankan coaches will also be part of the training program.
In statement released on Friday, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) informed that Arun will conduct training programs for their men’s and women’s national teams, women’s A team, under-19 men’s team, coaches of the High Performance Centre as well as club and provincial coaches of the side. The former India coach has been roped in by SLC to improve their skills and impart knowledge across all the levels.
Second Indian coach to travel to island nation
This is not the first time that an Indian coach will travel to the island nation as earlier also, R Sridhar has conduct sessions for cricketers from the island nation. Arun, who was India’s bowling coach from 2014 to 2021, will commence the program by training the under-19 men’s squad. He is also scheduled to hold separate strategy sessions with the men’s red-ball and white-ball teams and conduct technical and skill-based sessions with the fast bowlers in the unit.
Arun, who is 62 years of age, also served as Kolkata Knight Riders’ bowling coach in the Indian Premier League. He will also hold video and performance analysis sessions with players and coaches and also on match-scenarios to develop a fair understanding of the game for the Sri Lanka cricketers. News of Arun conduct the special program in Sri Lanka came a few weeks ago but it was finally decided on May 30.
