Chelsea and Napoli are negotiating for Victor Osimhen to be loaned for the entire season. Talks over Osimhen and Romelu Lukaku, who is anticipated to go in the other direction, are ongoing between the two teams. After putting Lukaku available for transfer, Chelsea wants to get rid of him, but they haven’t found a team that will match their £37 million asking price. However, it was confirmed by Osimhen’s agent that the loan move to Chelsea were fake rumours and that they should stop spreading these kind of news.

The Belgian, who might reconnect with former coach Antonio Conte, is most attracted to Napoli. Conte has made him his main objective, but it will depend on whether or if Osimhen quits the club. The two helped Inter Milan win Serie A in 2021. Lukaku and Naples have already agreed to a three-year contract that includes a pay reduction.

Although a price has not yet been agreed upon, Chelsea would benefit greatly from losing £325,000-a-week striker Lukaku and acquiring a good striker. A complicating factor, though, is Osimhen’s desire to join Stamford Bridge. He has already reached a personal agreement with PSG, where he would take Kylian Mbappe’s place as the team’s main man following the latter’s transfer to Real Madrid. The Nigerian has expressed interest in a deal and has previously been connected to a Chelsea transfer.
Osimhen scored 26 goals in 32 league games to help Napoli win Serie A in 2023. The 25-year-old had a more difficult season the previous year, but he still managed 17 goals across all competitions, and the Blues were eager to add more firepower to their assault. Nevertheless, Paris Saint-Germain, who hope to win the competition, may be a more alluring option than Chelsea given that Chelsea does not play Champions League games.
