New Delhi: Star-studded Mumbai batting line-up bowled out for 120 runs against Jammu and Kashmir in the Ranji Trophy Round 6 fixture at the Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy BKC in Mumbai on Thursday, January 23.

Mumbai got off to a poor start after opting to bat first as openers Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal departed cheaply. Umar Nazir removed Rohit on 3 runs while Auqib Nabi dismissed Jaiswal on 4 runs.

Ajinkya Rahane (12) and Shreyas Iyer (11) also failed to make big contributions with the bat for the team while Shivam Dube scored a duck. But Shardul Thakur came to the rescue for his team and scored a brilliant half-century.

He amassed 51 runs off 57 balls with the help of five boundaries and two maximums. He also forged a crucial 63-run partnership with Tanush Kotian for the eighth wicket. Shardul last played for Team India during the first Test match against South Africa in 2023. He was ignored by the selectors during the recent Test series against Bangladesh, New Zealand and Australia.

He surprisingly remained unsold during the IPL 2025 mega auction. Shardul also registered the worst bowling figures in the history of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, conceding 69 runs in the four over during the Group E match against Kerala in Hyderabad.

Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant flop, Ravindra Jadeja shines

Shubman Gill-led Punjab team bowled for 55 runs in 29 overs against Karnataka at the M Chinnaswammy Stadium in Bengaluru. None of the Punjab batters were able to cross the 20-run mark after Karnataka opted to bowl first. Gill only managed to score 6 runs off 28 balls and was dismissed by Abhilash Shetty.

Delhi also bowled out for 188 runs against Vidarbha at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot. Skipper Ayush Badoni scored 60 runs off 78 balls while Yash Dhull also amassed 44 runs. Indian wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant only managed to score just one run while Ravindra Jadeja picked a five-wicket haul for Saurashtra.
