New Delhi: In what comes as a delightful news, former women’s flyweight champion Alex Grasso is set to make her return to UFC 315 in Montreal. Grasso, who was out of action for a while, will be back in Octagon, set for a high-octane clash against number five Natalia Silva.

Grasso, who is the number one contender after losing her title to Valentina Shevchenko at Noche UFC in September 2024, pipped Shevchenko in March 2023 at the UFC 285 event, beating the future Hall of Famer via rear-naked choke in the fourth round. Both the fighters fought to a controversial draw in September 2023. However, in the third fight Shevchenko dominated Grasso to regain her title.

Shevchenko on course for a collision with Manon Fiorot

It now seems that Shevchenko is on a collision course with number two contender Manon Fiorot but the fight has yet not been signed. It is considered to be the most obvious fight as Shevchenko has already has a fight with Grasso three times. Even with a victory over Silva, Mexico’ Grasso  would have to do a lot of work as she hope to get another shot at the flyweight title, if the former manages to retain her title after the next bout.

If Shevchenko is overtaken, there is a chance that Grasso could step right into another title opportunity if she manages to beat Silva. Meanwhile, Silva still has a chance to makes a jump into the uncharted territory as the 28-year-old has won 12 fights in a row, including all six of her UFC bouts. Back in September 2024, Silva beat ex-champion Jessica Andrade through a unanimous decision in a scrap that won Fight of the Night honours.

Meanwhile, Grasso vs Silva is likely a main card fight at UFC 315, but it’s not going to be the main event but the most star-studded fight added to Montreal.
