Former India cricketer, coach Anshuman Gaekwad passes away

New Delhi: Former India cricketer Anshuman Gaekwad passed away on Wednesday aged 71 after long battle with cancer.

He had flown to London for treatment and returned to Baroda about a month ago. His top score was 201 runs Pakistan.

The former batter played in 40 Tests and 15 ODIs for India from 1975 to 1987, scoring 1985 runs in the five-day format.

Gaekwad became the coach of the national cricket team in October 1997 and he remained in the top job till September 1999.

Hi tenure is mostly rememberd for Anil Kumble’s 10 wickets in an innings against Pakistan in 1999 in Delhi.
