French Open 2025: Top seed Sabalenka storms into fourth round

New Delhi: Top seed Aryna Sabalenka stayed on course for her maiden French Open title with a straight-sets win over Serbia’s Olga Danilovic at the Court Philippe Chatrier on Friday. The world number one progressed to the next round with a commanding 6-2, 6-3 win against the Serbian to set up a fourth-round clash against American 16th seed Amanda Anisimova.

Anisimova, a former French Open semifinalist, defeated No. 22 Clara Tauson 7-6 (4), 6-4 to reach the fourth round. Sabalenka has dropped only 10 games in four matches at Roland Garros, with 32 of her 37 victories coming in straight sets this year.

The three-time Major winner is the only player to have reached the Round of 16 at the Australian Open and Roland Garros over the past three years.

Sabalenka, a winner at the 2023 and 2024 Australian Open and 2024 US Open, is chasing an elusive French Open title to add another feather to her cap.
