New Delhi: The food menu at the Paris Olympics is customised to ensure Indian athletes don’t feel homesick. Athletes must eat and drink what they love and what will be beneficial for their body. The strict diet regime forces athletes to keep their distance from guilty-pleasure foods but to feed the soul and be happy from the inside it’s important to strike a perfect balance.
Keeping that in mind, the Paris Games organisers have left no stone unturned to satisfy the cravings and fulfil the nutrition of athletes from across the globe with a wide range of food menus. Aiming to keep the Games as healthy as possible, Paris organisers have banned, Chicken Nuggets, one of the most popular snacks in the world from the menu.
But worry not Indians! Chicken nuggets might be off the Paris menu, but athletes can enjoy delicious bowls of Butter Chicken and Biryani. Both dishes are not just popular among Indians but are global hits.
Indian contingent’s chief nutritionist, Aradhana Sharma told Republicworld.com about the menu of the Paris Olympics village. She told the news publication that the menu will be divided into four heads, representing cuisines from different continents, including the Indian sub-continent.
Ms. Sharma revealed some of the Indian dishes that will grace the menu at the Athletes’ Village.
“There is veg biryani, there is Butter Chicken, there is some cauliflower curry and a Paneer dish. So, these are going to be there, again it’s not every day but now and then our athletes are going to get a taste of it.” Sharma said.
Who has ordered what in Paris?
Four Michelin-starred chefs will feed the athletes, who can make specific requests to get their favourite food. Orders have already started to come in with Great Britain ordering porridge and 50, 000 tea bags while the Koreans have ordered kimchis. It was sticky rice for the Chinese delegation and “skewers” for the Japanese contingent.
