New Delhi: Gold prices on Friday increased Rs 641 to Rs 70,595 per 10 grams in futures trade.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange, the gold contracts for August delivery traded higher Rs 641 or 0.92 per cent at Rs 70,595 per 10 grams in a business turnover of 19,971 lots.
Analysts are of the view that the fresh positions built up by participants led to a surge in gold prices. Globally, gold futures increased 1.12 per cent to USD 2,508.60 per ounce in New York.

Gold prices on August 1
Gold prices rose Rs 550 to Rs 72,500 per 10 grams in Delhi on August 1, 2024. The
yellow metal has been increasing for the last few days after losses due to the government’s budget announcement of a customs duty cut on gold and silver.
As per All India Sarafa Association, silver prices also increased Rs 600 to Rs 86,200 per kg from Rs 85,600 per kg in the previous session.
“The risk of a further escalation of geopolitical tensions in the Middle East pushes the safe-haven commodity to a…high during the Asian session on Thursday,” Rahul Kalantri, vice president of Mehta Equities Ltd, said.
