New Delhi: Gold prices on August 20, 2024 (Tuesday) dropped only Re 1 to Rs 71,583 per 10 grams in futures trade. The analysts attributed the marginal decline in gold rates to weak global cues. Multi Commodity Exchange – gold contracts for October delivery traded lower by Re 1 to Rs 71,583 per 10 grams in a business turnover of 17,375 lots. At the international level, the price of gold increased 0.05 per cent to USD 2,542.50 per ounce in New York.
Silver prices appreciated Rs 425 to Rs 84,763 per kilogram in futures trade as participants widened their bets on a firm spot demand. Multi Commodity Exchange – The silver contracts for September delivery increased Rs 425 or 0.5 per cent to Rs 84,763 per kg in 23,316 lots. The analysts are of the view that the rise in silver prices was mainly due to fresh positions built up by participants on a positive domestic trend. Globally, silver was trading 0.67 per cent higher at USD 29.93 per ounce in New York.
