New Delhi: The Pakistan cricket team has been at the receiving end ever since getting eliminated from the T20 World Cup 2024, all across social media and even the Pakistani TV media. The Babar Azam-led side performed poorly in the T20 showpiece and were knocked out of the group stage itself, enraging a few former Pakistan cricketers, who then questioned their work ethic including them holidaying in the USA even after getting eliminated.
It all went a level up when a video featuring Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf in a physical altercation with a fan surfaced on social media. There have been numerous sides taken for the incident and Rauf’s teammates also lent their support on social media amid the controversy. Seeing Rauf getting support from his teammates, sidelined Pakistan batter Ahmed Shehzad shared a scathing post on “X” (formerly Twitter).
Shehzad has been in the news for the last couple of weeks notably for his extreme criticism of Babar Azam & co. and his latest post on social media is a fresh addition to the flak copped by the Pakistan players. Shehzad said that the players should be apologising to the fans instead of backing Rauf and also asked them to return to Pakistan and skip the holidays in the USA.
Shehzad on Haris Rauf incident
“While we fully condemn what happened to Haris Rauf, it is also important that the posts put up by the players in support of Haris should be taken away from the fans due to his poor performance in the World Cup. It should have been as an apology,” he said.

Shehzad feels that the Pakistani cricketers are trying to change the narrative by sharing supportive posts and he wants them to take accountability as the Men in Green haven’t won anything for five years.
“It would be good if these players would apologize to the nation, if these players would be ashamed, and if these players would return to Pakistan instead of spending holidays in America, England or Dubai. These posts by the players should not change the narrative and the fans should get answers for the poor performances of the players,” Shehzad added.
