Hardik achieved the unique feat in the 1st T20I against Bangladesh at the Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium in Gwalior on Sunday, October 06. The all-rounder starred with the bat and the ball as India crushed the visitors by 7 wickets in the 1st T20I to go 1-0 up in the three-match series.
Hardik bowled an economical spell and finished with figures of 1/26 off his 4 overs to help the hosts restrict Bangladesh to 127 runs before slamming a match-winning knock of unbeaten 39 runs during India’s chase. Hardik’s cameo was laced with 5 fours and two sixes as he finished the game in style with a maximum.
The Indian all-rounder hammered a six against pacer Taskin Ahmed to score the winning runs for India and wrap up a dominant victory for the hosts. It was the fifth time that Hardik finished a T20I match with a six as he went past Kohli, who had achieved the feat five times during his T20I career. Hardik’s solitary wicket during Bangladesh’s innings also saw him overtake Arshdeep Singh in the list of highest wicket-takers for India in T20Is. He is now the 4th highest wicket-taker for India with 87 wickets from 103 matches and needs only 3 more wickets to topple Jasprit Bumrah from the top spot. Yuzvendra Chahal is the leading wicket-taker for India in T20Is with 96 wickets from 80 matches.
