New Delhi: Team India will face Australia in the Boxing Day Test match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Thursday, December 26. The Men in Blue need to win the remaining two games of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy to qualify for the final of the World Test Championship (WTC).
Team India won the first Test by 295 runs in Perth but Australia made a brilliant comeback and won the second Test by 10 wickets at the Adelaide Oval. The third Test match of the series ended in a draw at the Gabba in Brisbane.
Jasprit Bumrah has been the star performer for Team India in the three Test matches. He has picked up 21 wickets at an average of 10.90. But, the rest of the Indian bowlers have struggled to take wickets. The team’s spin bowlers also faced a lot of criticism following Ravichandran Ashwin’s shock retirement after the third Test in Brisbane.
Sundar played the first Test and Ashwin played the second Day-Night Test while Jadeja played the third Test of the series but all three of them failed to deliver a big performance with the ball. Nitish Kumar Reddy, who scored crucial runs for India and is also a fifth bowler provides extra batting depth, making the decision to include an extra fast bowler a complicated one.
‘India need to work on bowling lineup’: Cheteshwar Pujara
India batter Cheteshwar Pujara has said that Team India needs to work on their bowling lineup. He further added that Bumrah, Siraj and Akash Deep doing a good job and both all-rounders (Jadeja and Nitish) have also contributed with the bat and ball but the Men in Blue are lacking one bowler and they have to add another bowler if possible.
“India will have to add another bowler if possible and maybe try and reduce a batter. I don’t know. I’m unable to find the right 11 at the moment because I don’t see a lot of changes going into the next Test match” Pujara said.
Indian batter Cheteshwar Pujara stressed the importance of adding another pacer for the fourth Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Cricket Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
